one week old

Luca is one week old today!! Unbelievable!

we are in love

We are totally captivated by our squirmy little baby! He has us totally under his control. He is cute, we just watch him while he sleeps (and we took some pictures). Sometimes we even poke him if we can't hear him breathing ...
We went to the pediatrician yesterday to check his bilirubin levels, and they were okay. His jaundice should fade. My milk came in yesterday as well, so he has finally been introduced to breast milk and is a huge fan.

some visitors

Mary Kathryn and Aimee stopped by this evening to drop off some chana masala, banana bread and other goodies for us. Yum! It is really great having friends who bring us food!! Making meals is hard right now ...

returning home

Both Luca and I were released from the hospital today. Luca is a bit jaundiced, so we had to stay an extra day. We are very relieved to be able to sleep in our own bed and not be awoken by nurses every few hours. We take a few pictures of Luca to share with family and friends, as well as unpack and try to figure out if we have everything we need for the baby. A swaddled Luca is propped up by a Boppy pillow in the first picture, and Luca is happy to have his diaper changed (Thanks Daddy!) in the second picture.

luca's birthday!

Luca Linus Holmes-Jankiewicz is born at 12:38pm!! After being at the hospital since 9am Wednesday, we are very very excited to meet him. He is adorable, and we are extremely happy to finally meet him. We moved out of the labor and delivery room to the postpartum room where we will stay for a few days to recover and let the doctors check out Luca.

We went to Aimee's house warming party and she took a picture of me looking quite pregnant. Little did we know then that Luca would be born in less than a week!
